Internet is a wondrous tool and I use it, (ain't I a fool?)for you dear pupils, who wish to speak the Queen's English. Well, maybe not but at least, if asked whether you speak English or not, don't say: "I do not!"

THANKSGIVING... by William Burroughs
My history colleague M. Rousseaux advised me to have a look at this video and i thought i would post it here.
It is an extremely sour and ironical poem by William S. Burroughs who trashes his country and denounces many of its flaws.
Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1986
For John Dillinger
In hope he is still alive
Thanks for the wild turkey and the Passenger Pigeons, destined to be shit out through
wholesome American guts —
Thanks for a Continent to despoil and poison —
Thanks for Indians to provide a modicum of challenge and danger —
Thanks for vast herds of bison to kill and skin, leaving the carcasses to rot —
Thanks for bounties on wolves and coyotes —
Thanks for the AMERICAN DREAM to vulgarize and falsify until the bare lies shine through —
Thanks for the KKK, for nigger-killing lawmen feeling their notches, for decent church-going women with their mean, pinched, bitter, evil faces —
Thanks for “Kill a Queer for Christ” stickers —
Thanks for laboratory AIDS —
Thanks for Prohibition and the War Against Drugs —
Thanks for a country where nobody is allowed to mind his own business —
Thanks for a nation of finks — yes,
Thanks for all the memories… all right, let’s see your arms… you always were a headache and you always were a bore —
Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal of the last and greatest of human dreams.

Somewhere beyond the sea
A special one just for you Rea
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waitin' for me
My lover stands on golden sand
And watches the ships that go sailin'
Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watchin' for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailin'
It's far beyond the star
It's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be, beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailin'
***INSTRUMENTAL BREAK***
I know beyond a doubt,
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet, I know we'll meet
Beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be, beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailin'
(No more sailin')
(So long sailin')
(Byebye sailin')

New York, New York
Start spreading the news
I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it

A Social Sciences video

Not schemes and wars but dreams and morals ...will prevail!
Keith Olbermann, a famous U.S. journalist, news anchor and political commentator as well as a radio sportscaster is attacking George W. Bush very straightforwardly!!!
You may find the video difficult to understand but I believe it's worth trying.
